Illustrations are ideal for visualising film scenes, for example a TV commercial. The sketchy representations are used to define the angle, perspective and setting size of the image sequences before shooting begins. The illustrator is actively involved in the brainstorming process with his scribbles. The storyboard often serves as the basis for the story reel, i.e. the rough filming of the individual motifs before the actual set shoot. Storyboards can also stand on their own to visualise certain scenes and situations.
