Annika Metze

Her love for illustration has been with Annika Metze since childhood. She loved drawing her favourite scenes from children’s books – not as technically savvy perhaps, but with great passion! Born in Berlin, Annika started her graphic design training at the Lette-Verein, subsequently she studied Social and Business Communication at the University of Arts Berlin. Annika Metze has stayed loyal to her hometown and now works as a freelance illustrator.

Annika Metzes great talent lies with digital vector illustration as well as pixelbased works. She likes to draw outside, in the fresh air – „Definitely not at my desk!“– She only sits down at her desk when she has accumulated a sufficiently large stack of new sketches to refine. Annika starts with creating vector files of her sketches in Adobe Illustrator, which she then fine-tunes in Photoshop.

To be able to work on a highly professional level, Annika continually educates herself and tries out new tools.

Annika Metze loves to create special character designs, preferably colourful and playful. For seed manufacturers Strube she developed the Sugar Beet Gang, who provide information about the different characteristics of different beet varieties.

An image campaign for the cooperative banking sector saw her bring the five-person family Raiff to life, including their dog. In short, whimsical stories the family members introduce different banking products.

Annika Metze is especially pleased with her work when she manages to entice the corners of the viewer’s mouths into a little, happy twitch!
