Michael Vestner

Michael Vestner trained as a communication designer with a strong focus on industrial design. Fittingly, as an illustrator he has been working closely with the automobile and technology industries. Michael works from his studio loft in Nuremberg.

He specializes in illustrating technical objects, procedures and instructions: „I like turning seemingly dry, uninteresting and complicated visual content into exciting and visually appealing images.“ – His illustration style explains complex objects and processes and makes them easy to understand for any viewer.

Michael’s mode of operation is characterized by playful and minimal vector graphics. He creates his technical drawings almost exclusively digitally, always with a focus on accuracy: “I like clean illustration and I place great value on a technically flawless, tidy structure in my works!”

Michael Vestner is a longstanding collaborator of clients like Bosch, Mercedes and Smart. He designed technical interior illustrations for Mercedes and an instruction for Smart’s car2go car sharing principle. Another project took him to Swaroski, where he illustrated technical infographics depicting the installation of Swarovski lamps.

The realization of marine explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau’s renowned research ship „Calypso“ was particularly exciting: Michael created various cross-section drawings, permitting an authentic, highly detailed view into the interior of the ship. The individual cabins house sleeping quarters, the kitchen or diving and research equipment. – „It was time-consuming but also quite a lot of fun!”

In future Michael Vestner wants to focus on illustration for the health and science sector.
