Moritz Adam Schmitt

Moritz Adam Schmitt has been drawing ever since he can remember – but he took a few detours before he found his dream job as an illustrator. After discovering Photoshop in 2007 he immersed himself in photo composings and photo manipulation. He began studying media design and found that Adobe Illustrator was essential for him as a budding illustrator with an unconventional style.

At the start he resisted the program, but then he took up a challenge that would lay the foundation for his illustration career: „One Icon/Illustration a day“. He collected these in a specifically created Instagram account. This should prove to be one of the best ideas he ever had: Moritz got to know and love the program in 365 days, generated 20.000 followers and discovered his true passion for illustration!

Moritz Adam Schmitt started working freelance during his studies, fed his Instagram account and got lucky: The right person discovered his account at the right time, and he got invited to Adobe MAX in San Diego! He still doesn’t know exactly how it happened – only that he found a great supporter who continued to be at this side, and Moritz started working for renowned clients right away.

„To have been able to work for big names like Microsoft and Adobe right from the start of my career gave me the needed confidence to put all my energy and hope into illustration!“ – Moritz Adam Schmitt has been working as a freelance illustrator since 2017 and is very happy to have turned his passion into a career.

He uses digital illustration techniques for his clients as well as his personal work. Moritz started out with flat illustrations, which in time got more and more detailed and complex. He does not want to commit to one style – he does not see himself as an artist, but as a service provider. He is easily bored, which spurs him on to try new things and expand his abilities.

According to Moritz Adam Schmitt, there is strength in this flexibility – regardless of style he likes to evoke the same feelings that he gets from good illustration: joy, excitement and an incentive for contemplation!

Time will tell if Moritz will win the sporting bet he has with his girlfriend: To one day create illustrations for Adidas or Nike.
