Black Booze Illustrations

Even at school Pia Schroeckh attended various art classes – and she liked to draw funny little characters that made her friends laugh.

She studied at the Design Academy Rostock, and after her graduation moved to the capital. She’s been living in Berlin with her dog Amy ever since, working as an illustrator under her moniker “Black Booze Illustrations”.

Pia is a committed vegan and likes to stay true to her values in professional terms as well – she mainly works on projects supporting fair trade, animal welfare and veganism.

The illustrator loves tattoos, is the proud owner of many pieces of body art and is currently training as a tattoo artist herself. This love, not surprisingly, influences Pia Schrpoeckh’s own illustration style. – „I love traditional tattoos and their individual stories!”

Pia’s illustration are created digitally as vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator, or analogue with fineliner pens. Both paths always start with sketches in her notebook – many little drawings form one great illustration.

For Toyota Magazine and its Roadshow Pia Schroeckh developed a map of Dresden. She created a cityscape in her unique Black Booze tattoo style: Fragrant coffee mugs, vegan food and a dog fetching stick fill the city-illustration, and on a path through the inner city she marked out her favourite spots.

Pia Schroeckh is one of the lucky chosen to illustrate the Trendbook 2021. The book contains current technological and cultural innovations and is created in collaboration with different artists.

For Pia, the best thing about her work is the fact that she gets to meet „many great people with different ideas and passions“.
