Nicole Mindt

Frankfurt-based illustrator Nicole Mindt graduated as a communication designer from the European School of Design. Initially she worked as an art director in large advertising firms, later as a graphic designer for smaller design agencies, creating editorials, annual reports, brand design and visual identities.

During her studies Nicole developed a passion for digital and vector-based illustration. 2019 she started working as a freelance illustrator under the hashtag #mindtdesign.

Nicole’s style is punchy, loud, colourful and sometimes surreal. She likes images that blend two worlds and give the viewer room for interpretation. She loves the beauty and joy of illustration, its ability to convey any topic in any media and to reach out to people.

Her illustrations are purely digital. Nicole works in Adobe Illustrator or InDesign and uses clean geometric shapes to create new objects. She sketches out her initial ideas in her sketchbook, which is always with her. Nicole Mindt is a fan of surreal characters that consist of simple coloured circles, legs and shoes. She always combines two worlds to convey a new message – she creates complexity through meaning but stays true to her simple geometric shapes. She likes to overlap or set shapes off of each other to discover something new. – „I love creating new images from simple shapes. My goal, depending on the commission, is that people smile, think or feel understood.“

Nicole Mindt is inspired by current topics like the environment, food or politics. Her works don’t focus on one genre but play into different categories: from beauty to icons, portraits, travel illustration and typography to animation, her creative palette knows no bounds!

She would gladly fill cities and public places with her coulourful images, because: „Illustrations make life more beautiful and give a face and personality to many things!“

In future the Frankfurt native would like to work for sustainable projects in fashion, cosmetics and food.
